Indian pacer spearhead Jasprit Bumrah showcased his bowling prowess during the second Test of the five-match series against England. He also achieved the milestone of 150 Test wickets for India in England’s first innings of the ongoing Test match in Visakhapatnam.

The Rohit Sharma-led team is currently taking on the Ben Stokes-led side at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium. Jasprit Bumrah picked up six wickets for 45 runs on a flat batting pitch as England was bowled for 253 runs in their first innings.

Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal concluded the second day’s play without losing a wicket. Rohit and Yashasvi added an unbeaten 28 runs in the last session, extending their lead to a substantial 171 runs for the hosts in the ongoing red-ball match.

Jasprit Bumrah Breaks Umesh Yadav’s Record

Jasprit Bumrah achieved a milestone by becoming the quickest Indian pacer to reach 150 Test wickets, dismissing England’s captain Ben Stokes. Bumrah delivered an inswinging delivery to the left-handed batter, beating the inside edge and shattering the stumps.

The 30-year-old pacer achieved this feat in 6781 deliveries, showcasing his remarkable performance in Tests. Bumrah surpassed Umesh Yadav, Mohd Shami, Kapil Dev, and Ravichandran Ashwin to become the fastest Indian bowler to accomplish this milestone.

Jasprit Bumrah reached 150 Test wickets in 34 matches, becoming the second-fastest Asian pacer to achieve this milestone after Pakistan’s Waqar Younis, who accomplished it in 27 Tests.

Jasprit Bumrah Bags Tenth Five Wicket Haul For India In Test Cricket

Following the dismissal of Ben Stokes, Bumrah quickly claimed the wicket of Tom Hartley, who was attempting aggressive shots to reduce the run deficit. The right-arm pacer completed his tenth five-wicket haul in Test cricket with the dismissal of Tom Hartley.

Bumrah’s fifer included Joe Root, Ollie Pope, Jonny Bairstow, Stokes, and Hartely. He played a pivotal role as India reduced England from 122/2 to 234/9. Bumrah took the wicket of James Anderson to bowl out England for 253 runs, securing a 143-run lead for India.

The Mumbai Indians bowler made his Test debut in 2018, amassing 152 wickets at an impressive average of 20.29 and a strike rate of 44.74. Recently, he recorded figures of 6/61 against South Africa in the second innings, playing a crucial role in India’s victory in Cape Town.

The home team resumed the day at 336-6 but added only 60 runs in the first session. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored his maiden double-century in Test cricket. England bowlers, with James Anderson, Shoaib Bashir, and Rehan Ahmed taking three wickets each in India’s first innings.
