Kuldeep Yadav has brought India right back into the game with two quick wickets in the first session of day one of the ongoing fifth Test against England at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala.

Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett gave England another solid start with the bat after their captain Ben Stokes won the toss and opted to bat first. While India’s pacers beat the openers’ outside edge on several occasions with the new ball, they could not get the breakthrough. Both the English openers were cautious at the start before finally opening their arms.

They took the score past the 50-run mark in the 15th over. With Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj as well and Ravichandran Ashwin failing to provide the breakthrough in the first 17 overs, India captain Rohit Sharma introduced Kuldeep Yadav into the attack in the 18th over and he made an instant impact.

The left-arm spinner dismissed Ben Duckett in his very first over to give India the much-needed breakthrough. Duckett departed after scoring 27 runs and adding 64 runs with fellow opener Zak Crawley for the first wicket.

Kuldeep Yadav dismisses Ollie Pope:

After Duckett’s departure, Crawley and Ollie Pope steadied the ship for the visitors and took their team’s score to 100. England were looking set to finish the session on top before Kuldeep Yadav struck at the stroke of lunch to send back Pope.

On the third ball of the 26th over, Kuldeep Yadav completely outfoxed the England batter with his googly. The right-handed batsman danced down the track and was probably expecting the ball to go the other way but was beaten all ends up by the googly. With Pope well outside the crease, Dhruv Jurel had ample time to collect the ball and dislodge the bail. Pope departed for 11 off 24 balls.

Watch:

At lunch, England were on 100 for 2 with Crawley unbeaten on 61. The right-handed batsman has played 71 balls so far and has struck 9 fours and one six. England have already lost the series and will be looking to finish the five-match series on a high. India, on the other hand, would be aiming to make the most of the momentum and win their fourth Test in a row.
