Team India has been penalized after Ravichandran Ashwin was found running in the danger area of the pitch and Rohit Sharma was unhappy with the decision. The Indian team was warned on the first day after Ravindra Jadeja was found running in the middle of the pitch off James Anderson’s bowling. Now, Ravichandran Ashwin repeated the same mistake which has led to a five-run penalty which means England will now start their innings at 5/0.

Skipper Rohit Sharma was not happy in the dressing room following the penalty being awarded against the team. India has already crossed the 350-run mark laying back on centuries by Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja with a quickfire 62 from debutant Sarfaraz. The incident left Ravichandran Ashwin angry as he went to debate with the umpire regarding the decision between the overs. India is in a strong position in the first innings as they are nearing 400 in this innings.

Ravindra Jadeja was also warned by the umpire when he ran into the middle area of the pitch and now when it happened the second time in this Indian innings, the umpire straight away gave a five-run penalty. Ravindra Jadeja smashed his fourth century in the game as he scored 112 off 225 deliveries hitting nine fours and two sixes in his innings. He added 204 runs with skipper Rohit Sharma for the fourth wicket after India lost three early wickets. Rohit Sharma scored 131 off 196 deliveries smashing 14 fours and three sixes in his innings.

Rohit Sharma was looking disappointed after a penalty of five runs was given to the Indian team. Ravichandran Ashwin also talked to the umpire regarding the decision but the decision stands as it was the second time in this innings that a player ran in the middle of the pitch. Currently, debutant Dhruv Jurel and Ravichandran Ashwin are on the pitch for India and have been brilliant and resilient with the bat

India was not off to an auspicious start in this innings as they were 33/3 against England in the first hour of the first day’s play. However, the move to promote Ravindra Jadeja to No.5 worked and he combined with skipper Rohit Sharma to put the Indian team in a strong position. Rohit Sharma scored 131 while Ravindra Jadeja scored 112. Debutant Sarfaraz Khan made a quickfire 62 off 66 deliveries but was run out due to a terrible mix-up with Jadeja.

India and England are facing each other in a five-match Test series which is currently levelled 1-1 after the hosts lost the first match in Hyderabad by 28 runs but then made a comeback to win the second Test in Vizag. The third Test of the series is being played at the Niranjan Shah Cricket Stadium in Rajkot and it is a good opportunity for both sides to take a lead in this series. The hosts have not lost a Test series at home since 2012 and Rohit Sharma is still undefeated in bilateral Test series as a captain.
