Will Virat Kohli return in IND vs ENG Tests? BCCI official gives crucial update

Virat Kohli’s return in IND vs ENG Test series is the biggest talk of the town in Indian Cricket currently. Virat Kohli was expected to play in the series at the start and was also named in the preliminary squad for the first two Tests against England.
However, the Indian batter opted out of the first two Tests due to personal reasons. Now, after the first two Tests, it is still unclear if Virat Kohli will play in any of the next three matches. However, a BCCI official has given a crucial update regarding Virat Kohli’s return to the Indian team.
Notably, Kohli has not opened up about the actual reason behind his ouster in the IND vs ENG series. However, his former Royal Challengers Bangalore teammate AB de Villiers revealed that the Indian stalwart is expecting his second child with his wife Anushka Sharma.

BCCI official gives key update on Virat Kohli’s return
Now, BCCI is set to announce the India squad for the next three Tests against England. However, Virat Kohli’s return to the side is still under doubt. A BCCI official has given a key update about the same.
A report by The Indian Express has revealed that Kohli has not informed BCCI about his comeback to the national team. However, whenever he is ready to return, the Indian Cricket Board will add him to the team.
“Virat will decide when he wants to make a comeback to the Indian side. He hasn’t informed us till now but whenever he decides to play, he will be included in the team,” a BCCI official said.

BCCI backed Virat Kohli during his ouster
When Kohli opted out of the first two IND vs ENG Tests, BCCI supported him and announced that they respect his decision.
“While representing the country has always been his top priority, certain personal situations demand his presence and undivided attention. The BCCI respects his decision and the Board and team management has extended its support to the star batter,” the BCCI had said in their statement.

Virat Kohli highly expected to miss the next two games
Hence, since Virat Kohli has not responded to the BCCI about his return yet, he is highly likely to be dropped from the squad for the last three games. However, it is to be noted that the right-handed batter can be added to the squad later.
The India vs England Test series will witness the final encounter from March 7 onwards. BCCI wants all the players in the squad to report till February 11. The IND vs ENG 3rd Test will begin on Thursday, February 15 at Saurashtra Cricket Stadium in Rajkot.
The India vs England Test series is tied 1-1 after two games. England won the 1st Test by 28 runs while India won the 2nd Test by 106 runs. Rohit Sharma leads India while Ben Stokes leads England in the series.
