Yashasvi Jaiswal could well become the next superstar of world cricket across all three formats, feels former England captain Michael Vaughan after seeing his 3rd innings century against England in the 3rd of a 5-match Test series at the Niranjan Shah stadium in Rajkot. Vaughan made this comment while speaking to Dinesh Karthik in a Cricbuzz segment.

Host Dinesh Karthik started off the segment by praising Yashasvi Jaiswal, claiming that he has done exceptionally well across all formats even if he is yet to make his ODI debut for India. There are no doubts regarding his class, form, and mindset in the longest as well as shortest format, something that has helped him cement his position in the Indian national side.

The 22-year-old UP-born batter has shown exceptional batting prowess since breaking out in the Indian Premier League for the Rajasthan Royals in the 2020 season. His breakout year came only last year in 2023 when he smacked 625 runs at an average of 48.08 including a century and 5 half-centuries.

Yashasvi Jaiswal also broke the record for fastest fifty last year, overtaking KL Rahul’s 14-ball 50 with a 13-ball fifty against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens. On the back of his sensational 2023 season, the Indian management gave him a head start during India’s tour of West Indies for a T20I and Test series.

He announced himself on the world stage by smacking 171 on his debut inning before scoring 57 in his 2nd Test match. And after a subpar tour of South Africa, Yashasvi Jaiswal has shone brightly in his maiden home Test series against England and has already scored 2 triple-digit scores.

He got off to a good start in the series by amassing 80 runs in the Hyderabad Test and then he converted that to a double hundred in the Vishakhapatnam Test. At the moment, he is closing in on another double hundred and that has inflicted positive reactions from not just his skipper or head coach but former England captain Michael Vaughan as well.

“He’s got plenty of time to face quick bowling”, Vaughan highlights Yashasvi Jaiswal’s real quality

After Dinesh Karthik threw the ball to Michael Vaughan’s court, the Englishman highlighted Yashavi Jaiswal’s impeccable ability to deal with fast bowlers and claimed that his balance is the key. Vaughan also explained his high bat lift that helps him play the shots confidently.

“I think he’s (Yashasvi Jaiswal) the next superstar across all 3 formats. I just think he’s got that beautiful gift of balance, plenty of time to face quick bowling, a wonderful high bat lift and wonderful willow through the ball.” – Michael Vaughan said via Cricbuzz.

“I thought today’s innings was spectacular as both him and Shubman Gill calmed the situation down, they played the tempo right from the start. I think he 8 off 50 deliveries then suddenly starts finding boundaries and then he starts to get into his T20 mode when he realized that the game was being pushed ahead by India and then it was all down to the Jasball effect.” – Vaughan added.

“He’s a wonderful player, he really is, he’s a joy to watch and i guess the challenge for him will be when the ball starts to swing around in England, can he do it there?” – Vaughan concluded.
