Indian Cricket Team managed to get a massive lead of 87 runs in the 1st innings. The Men in Blue made a terrific comeback when the team was reduced to 94-4. Shreyas Iyer & Rishabh Pant were involved in a huge partnership of 159 runs where the batters dismantled the bowling attack.
Shreyas Iyer scored 87 runs in 105 balls where he struck 10 fours and 2 sixes. The batter surprisingly applied an aggressive approach where he was quite keen to rotate the strike. He got ample support from the dynamic wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant who scored 93 runs in 105 balls where Pant smashed 7 fours and 5 sixes.
Shreyas Iyer was seen interacting with media and was asked about the conditions. “To be honest when I came into bat, I felt that the ball wasn’t turning that much and the communication which I had with Rishabh and I was just trying to play the line of the ball very much similar to which I played in Chittagong. ” said Shreyas Iyer.
“When In went in, there were fast bowlers bowling from one end where my mindset was to just play out the session and see how it goes, but obviously at the same time I am not going to restrict my strokes when the ball is pitched in my area I am going to go for it and thankfully I backed it today and I am grateful on the score I got.” he added.
Shreyas Iyer on Short Ball
Shreyas Iyer was asked about the short ball weakness. “Commentators and people off the field keep saying these things, and that did affect me. If I can leave the ball well or keep the short ball down, then there is no problem. It’s true that I was not getting runs with my shorts off the short balls, so that was an issue.”said Shreyas Iyer.

“Obviously, bowlers targeted me with the short ball, even when the ball was seaming around, so that worked well for me. I never stopped training, and I have got runs now in a match, so that’s good. Of-course it plays on our mind. As a player I feel when people say these things. It’s important as a player I feel that you just turn fear into them, rest would take care of itself.” he added.
