IND vs BAN: Danish Kaneria Lashes Out At Shakib Al Hasan's Captaincy, Says 'He's Big Player But Not Captaincy Material'

Former Pakistan player Danish Kaneria has lashed out at Shakib Al Hasan for his poor captaincy in the ongoing IND vs BAN 1st Test at Chattogram. Danish Kaneria said that Shakib Al Hasan is not captaincy material.

In the ongoing IND vs BAN 1st Test, Bangladesh has shown a poor performance so far. The team got bowled out for just 150 in the 1st innings, giving a big lead to the visitors India. Now, they are also too close to defeat with 2 more days to go in the match.

Shakib Al Hasan is Not A Captaincy Material: Danish Kaneria

While speaking on his Youtube channel, former Pakistan skipper Danish Kaneria said that Shakib Al Hasan’s captaincy was not up to the mark. He also mentioned that other players don’t want to play under Shakib Al Hasan’s leadership and Litton Das could be a better choice for Test skipper.

“His captaincy was not up to the mark. These players don’t want to play under Shakib’s captaincy. Litton Das could be a better choice, and we saw how he won the ODI series. There is no doubt Shakib is a big player, but he is not captaincy material,” Danish Kaneria said in his video.

Danish Kaneria also mentioned that Shakib Al Hasan could have been dropped in the Test match and some other pacer should be picked in the playing XI as the Chattogram stadium offers assistance to pacers.

“The wicket at Chattogram is different from the other Bangladeshi wickets as it offers some assistance for the fast bowlers. Shakib Al Hasan was injured and wasn’t expected to bowl much. Was it necessary for him to play? They could have added an extra bowler instead,” Kaneria further added.

In IND vs BAN 1st Test, India posted 404-10 in the 1st innings batting first. Shreyas Iyer (86) and Cheteshwar Pujara (90) slammed good knocks. In response, Bangladesh got out for 150 in the 2nd innings. India replied with 258-2 (d) in the 2nd innings and has kept a target of 513 for the hosts in the final innings. At the end of Day 3, Bangladesh reached 42-0.
