Former Indian batter Wasim Jaffer believes skipper Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid should keep a group of 12-13 players and play with that team only, irrespective of the conditions or the opponents they are facing to prepare for the upcoming ODI World Cup.
On Thursday, Team India arrived in Bangladesh for a three-match One-Day International (ODI) and two-match Test series. The first of three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) will be played on December 4 in Dhaka. The ODI series will be followed by the first test on December 14 at Chattogram, and the tour will conclude on December 22 at Mirpur.

Wasim Jaffer Goes With Spin Trio For First ODI
Jaffer also revealed team India’s playing 11 that he would like to see in the first ODI against Bangladesh. He feels the conditions in Bangladesh will suit the spinners therefore we need to pick the trio of Washington Sundar, Axar Patel and Shahbaz Ahmed.
Selecting his team for the first ODI in Dhaka, Wasim Jaffer said:
First 4-5 I would say are normal. I would say Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma will open, Virat Kohli at No.3 position, Rishabh Pant at No.4 and KL Rahul at No.5.
Then at No.6 I would go with Washington Sundar, No. 7 would be Axar Patel, No.8 I will pick Shahbaz Ahmed because I think the conditions probably will suit spinners so in my view its better having another spin option.
No.9 Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami and Deepak Chahar. Obviously Deepak Chahar will bat up the order, but I will go with these three seamers. So you got 6 bowling options and you got 3 spinners as well to choose from.
We Need To Play Our Best 11: Wasim Jaffer
Wasim Jaffer feels Shreyas Iyer would be unlucky as Virat Kohli will be taking back his place as he comes back into the side. Adding to this, the former Indian opener said that India needs to play it’s best 11 and the top 4-5 need to play. He is also waiting for Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah to get fit and back in action soon.
“Unfortunately, Virat Kohli comes back, so obviously he can’t take his place as it’s the place he’s been batting. Our top players have not played together for a long-long time. So now all the top players have come back so unfotunately Shreyas Iyer has to miss out.
But that is how it goes, we need to play our best 11, our top 4-5 need to play as well as Hardik Pandya after this series we need to see him. Ravindra Jadeja hopefully gets fit, so does Jasprit Bumrah.
We need to stick with 12-13 players irrespective where we are playing and what opposition we are playing. So Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid knows that this is our best 15 that we are going to go with in the ODI World Cup.
