Aakash Chopra believes that selecting India’s hitters for the opening ODI match against Bangladesh will be extremely difficult.
The opening of a three-match ODI series between the Men in Blue and the Tigers will take place on Sunday, December 4, in Mirpur. Rohit Sharma, the team’s regular skipper, is back in charge following rest for the just-finished limited-overs series against New Zealand.

In a video previewing the opening ODI that he posted on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra elaborated on the queries that the Indian team management must address.

“India is facing major challenges. Shikhar Dhawan is available, and KL Rahul is the vice-captain, so who will open? Virat Kohli will bat third; who will bat fourth? Will Rishabh Pant get a chance? Sanju Samson is absent, but will Ishan Kishan be given a chance? There are many questions to be answered.”
“I am picking Rohit and Dhawan as the two openers”: Aakash Chopra
Shikhar Dhawan must play in the starting lineup, in the opinion of Aakash Chopra. He declared:
“In Rohit’s absence, Shikhar Dhawan has frequently served as captain. He has scored runs and is in charge of the ODI format, despite the fact that his strike rate in 2022 was 74 or 75. We just realized that he is slowing down a little. But you will use him if he is on the team.”

Aakash Chopra wrapped up by naming the top six players India is likely to field on Sunday, saying:
“You’ll put him in with Rohit Sharma because none of them will go down the order. I’m going with Rohit and Dhawan as the opening duo, with Kohli at No. 3, Rahul at No. 4, Shreyas Iyer at No. 5, and Pant at No. 6.”
When players like Suryakumar Yadav, Shubman Gill, Sanju Samson, and Hardik Pandya return to the mix, India will face more selection difficulties. The current batters will need to keep up their high standards of play to keep their spots in the starting XI.
