After the semi-final defeat in the T20 World Cup, the focus is on rebuilding the team for a better performance in the ODI World Cup in India next year. However, the journey has started on a poor note after losing back-to-back matches against Bangladesh and handing the hosts an unassailable 2-0 series lead on Wednesday.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz scored a remarkable hundred to lead the home team to a five-run victory in the second ODI on Wednesday at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium. Rohit Sharma scored an unbeaten half-century of 51 off 28 balls and almost guided his team to victory while batting with a split left webbing. In the end, India was five runs short as Rohit was unable to score a maximum off the game’s final delivery.

There’s Something Wrong With The Thought Process – Salman Butt

Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt believes that Team India’s thinking is flawed in the wake of recent ODI series defeats in Bangladesh and New Zealand. Butt said on his YouTube channel that the Indian think tank is still unsure of the team’s batting positions for the 2023 ODI World Cup on home soil.

“There’s something wrong with the thought process or role definition. A search is going on for who’s batting at which spot. They have strong bench strength, but there has been no such output over the last few months,” Salman Butt said.

Earlier, India restricted Bangladesh to 69 for the loss of six wickets, and last match’s hero Miraz put on an incredible 148-run partnership off 165 balls with Mahmudullah to help the home team put up a fighting total. It was the biggest seventh-wicket stand against India in history.

Mohammad Siraj (2/73) troubled the batsmen with his incoming deliveries, Umran Malik (2/58) used his express pace to good advantage, while off-spinner Washington Sundar (3/37) made them uncomfortable with the extra bounce.
