Rajkumar Sharma, Virat Kohli’s former childhood coach, claimed that Rahul Dravid has so far failed to lead Team India to successful outcomes during his time in that position.

Sharma emphasised how Rahul Dravid’s recent experiments have not been successful, as the team has lost a number of crucial games. He asserted, however, that the team’s subpar performances should not be entirely attributed to the coach.

A Lot Of Tactics Have Not Reaped For Rahul Dravid: Rajkumar Sharma

According to Sharma, who spoke with India News Sports:

“I would not say that Rahul Dravid has failed as the team’s head coach. However, some of the experiments and the thinking haven’t been very successful.”

“Unfortunately, for Dravid, a lot of his tactics haven’t reaped dividends. While it is wrong to blame the coach, we have to admit that his stint hasn’t been a very successful one, considering the unfavourable results,” he added.

Notably, a three-match ODI series between Bangladesh and the team led by Rohit Sharma is presently underway. The Men in Blue, however, did not have the best start to the series as they dropped the first game on Sunday, December 4, by a single wicket.

The hosts bowled out India for 186. The Indian bowlers put up a valiant effort to help the team claw their way back into the match, but they finally fell short.

We Have To Accept That We Have Gone Downhill In White-ball Cricket: Saba Karim

Former keeper-batter Saba Karim brought out during the debate how the team’s limited-overs cricket performances had not been up to par.

In order to stage a turnaround, he recommended that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) make significant modifications to the domestic cricket system of the nation. Karim suggested that the board form a committee to assist in the restructuring.

The 55-year-old added:

“We have not won an ICC trophy since 2013. We have to accept that we have gone downhill in white-ball cricket. We will have to work very hard to change that. Restructuring is the need of the hour.”

“Focusing just on the national team will be of no help. The BCCI will have to pay attention to domestic cricket. We aren’t getting the required quality from our domestic circuit at the moment. A fact-finding committee comprised of a few former cricketers should be formed to help restructure the country’s domestic cricket.”

The second ODI of their three-match series against Bangladesh will feature Rohit Sharma and company. On December 7th, the game will take place at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
