India vs Bangladesh: BAN Playing 11 for IND- 1st Test

Bangladesh takes on India in the first of the two-match Test series starting in Chattogram on December 14. Bangladesh won the ODI series 2-1 heading into this Test series. India are placed fourth on the WTC points table while Bangladesh is as low as ninth. Both teams need crucial points.

Bangladesh will be led by Shakib Al Hasan after Tamim Iqbal was ruled out of the series with a groin injury. He also did not play in the ODI series. There is no word still on how soon can Tamim return fit to the cricket field. Meanwhile, Taskin Ahmed is back in the Test squad after nursing his back injury. A call on his inclusion will be taken before the Test match.

Mominul Haque, Yasir Ali, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Litton Das, and Mushfiqur Rahim are some key batsmen for the team. Taijul Islam, Taskin Ahmed, Khaled Ahmed, Ebadot Hossain, and Shoriful Islam are some key bowlers for the team. The Tigers was bolstered by the return of Mushfiqur Rahim.

India and Bangladesh last faced each other in a bilateral series in 2019. During the series, India and Bangladesh played three T20Is and two Tests. India won the T20I series 2-1 and the Test series 2-0. Both teams have played against each other in 11 Tests with India winning nine of them. The Tigers are yet to win a Test match against India. India vs Bangladesh: BAN Playing 11 for IND – 1st Test

Mominul Haque

The former skipper will open the batting for his side. Haque was the skipper of the side when the two teams last played a Test match in 2019. In seven Tests this year, he has scored 166 runs averaging 13.83.

Najmul Hossain Shanto

Shanto will open the batting alongside Haque. He played all three ODIs but did not get big scores. The southpaw will want to contribute to the first Test. Shanto was Bangladesh’s top-scorer in the recently concluded T20 World Cup.

Litton Das

Das will slot in at three. He led Bangladesh in the ODI series against India. The right-hander has been in good form against India since the T20 World Cup where he played a knock of 60 and almost won Bangladesh the match.

Shakib Al Hasan (C)

The skipper will slot in at number four. He scored 29 in the first ODI and 43 in the second. He fell cheaply in the second T20I. Besides his batting, he will also lead the spin attack. Shakib has scored 222 runs and picked up 10 wickets in four Tests this year so far.

Mushfiqur Rahim (WK)

Rahim has made a comeback to the test side and will slot in at five. He scored 379 runs in five Tests this year including an unbeaten 175 against Sri Lanka in Dhaka.

Yasir Ali

The right-hander will slot in at number five in the lineup. Ali played the third and final ODI against India. In four Tests this year so far, Ali has scored 156 runs averaging 22.29.

Mehidy Hasan

Mehidy was in top form in the ODI series against India. He ended the series as the second-highest run-getter with 141 runs. This year so far he has picked up 20 wickets in six matches and scored 132 runs with the bat.

Taijul Islam

Taijul will be the third spinner in this Bangladesh playing XI alongside Shakib and Mehidy. This year so far he has picked up 14 wickets in just three Tests including a fifer against South Africa.

Taskin Ahmed

Taskin has been added to the Test side. If fit he will lead the pace attack. He is one of the five pacers included in the squad by Bangladesh. Takin missed out from the ODI series with a back injury.

Ebadot Hossain

Ebadot bowled his heart out in the ODI series against India. He picked up nine wickets in the series. The pacer has picked up 20 wickets in seven Test matches this year so far.

Shoriful Islam

Left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam will conclude the like Bangladesh XI for the first Test. He did not play in the ODI series. In four Tests this year so far he has picked up seven wickets averaging 44.14.
