India National Cricket Team vice-captain KL Rahul, who is playing as a wicketkeeper-batter in the ongoing three-match ODI series against Bangladesh National Cricket Team, grabbed an absolutely stunning catch to send back Mahmudullah in the second ODI.

The second ODI of the three-match series between Rohit Sharma-led India National Cricket Team and Litton Das-led Bangladesh National Cricket Team is being played at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Wednesday, December 7.

Winning the toss and batting first, Bangladesh were reduced to 69/6. However, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mahmudullah batted brilliantly and had a 148-run partnership in 165 balls that helped the Bangla Tigers make a comeback in the game.

Meanwhile, Umran Malik broke the remarkable partnership between Mahmudullah and Mehidy, which is the highest seventh-wicket stand against India in the history of ODIs.

On the first ball of the 47th over, the Jammu and Kashmir express pacer Umran Malik bowled a short length delivery just outside off-stump. The 36-year-old Bangladesh all-rounder backed away and tried to smash the ball, but he only managed to get a thick outside edge.

The ball was traveling quickly behind the stumps, but Rahul reacted sharply and dived to his right to complete a great catch.

Mahmudullah smashed an impressive 77 runs off 96 balls, before being cleaned up by Umran Malik. His outstanding innings consisted of 7 boundaries.

KL Rahul Leading India In Rohit Sharma’s Absence

India captain Rohit Sharma sustained a thumb injury while fielding during the first innings of the match. The 35-year-old was at the second slip when Mohammed Siraj drew an outside edge from Anamul Haque. The ball went towards Rohit Sharma and he dropped the catch and ended up hurting his thumb.

Rohit was seen in pain after the blow and he quickly walked off the field to get some treatment. After the incident, Rohit was assessed by the BCCI medical team, before being sent for the scans. In Rohit’s absence, KL Rahul, the designated vice-captain of the team, was seen leading the Men In Blue.
