India will be back to playing Test cricket post the IPL against England. They travel to the country to play the postponed Manchester Test which will now be played in Edgbaston in Birmingham from July 1. India were leading the Test series 2-1 before the fifth Test match was postponed due to a covid breakout in the Indian camp.

England will be playing a Test series against New Zealand in June before playing the Test against India. They will be getting some key gam time and match practice heading into the all-important Test match. The BCCI announced the Indian squad for the one-off Test match. They will reach England in time and get down to their preparations as well.

With several experienced players named in the squad, this might well be their last Test series if they do not perform well in the game. In this article, we take a look at three Indian players for whom this might well be their last Test series.

Pujara was named in the Indian Test squad courtesy of his good performance for his English county side Sussex. He churned out scores for them to make a comeback into the Indian team. However, if he fails to score in the crucial game, he might well not make a comeback to the Indian Test side again. Pujara is five short of playing 100 Test matches for India.

Yadav has also been included in the Indian Test squad for the England Test series. He played his last Test for India earlier this year against South Africa. Umesh has often found himself on the sidelines of the Indian Test team due to the presence of Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah. If he is not included in this game, he might not be picked in the Indian Test squad ever again. The veteran pacer has played 52 Tests and taken 158 wickets so far.

Ashwin’s away record as a spinner is not as good as his record at home. He has been much more successful as a spinner at home while his threat has been negated whenever he travels abroad. With Kuldeep Yadav finding form once again, Ashwin might well be not picked when the teams travel abroad. as far as his international retirement is concerned, there is still at least 5 to 6 years of cricket left in him.
