Former Indian pacer Zaheer Khan was very impressed with how England skipper Ben Stokes bowled on day 3 of the Edgbaston Test. Stokes bowled just seven overs and picked up the big wicket of Ben Stokes giving away just 22 runs.
India ended day 3 on 125/3 with a lead of 257 runs heading into day 4. Chetesjhwar Pujara was batting unbeaten on 50 and Rishabh Pant unbeaten on 30. Team India will be eyeing to get many as they can and extend their lead close to 400 runs in the first two sessions on day 4.

Talking to Cricbuzz, Zaheer lavished praises on how Stokes bowled in the second innings. He bowled just one wide and one no-ball as opposed to 10 no-balls he bowled in the first innings. He got the ball to move in the air and off the pitch as well as was evident with Kohli’s dismissal.

“Ben Stokes bowled a brilliant spell and it was not easy to bat against him. Had India lost a couple of more wickets, things could have been different and there could have been greater pressure on them. “However, they survived and the way they are playing, India should be able to add another 150 and put England under greater pressure” said Zak.
The former Indian pacer also analysed the last session’s play on day 3 saying that batting wasn’t easy for India in the final session. India lost the wickets of Hanuma Vihari (11) and Kohli in the final session before India ended the day on 125/3 with Pant-Pujara putting on 50 runs together at the close of play.

“Batting in the last session of Day 3 wasn’t that easy. The pitch was a bit up and down. It wasn’t as easy as we thought it would be. England have to bat on the same surface” Zaheer Khan said.
“It won’t be easy for them as well. As it is, it’s never easy to bat in the fourth innings of a Test. As India’s lead crosses 300 and, maybe 350, they will start feeling comfortable. If they take a lead of 400, they can drive the game from there” he concluded saying.
