ENG vs IND: Only Change I'm Expecting Is Arshdeep Singh For Prasidh Krishna - Zaheer Khan Ahead Of 3rd ODI

Former Indian cricketer Zaheer Khan felt that India might end up sticking with the same team but the only change he can think of is the addition of Arshdeep Singh instead of Prasidh Krishna.

Prasidh did well in the first ODI but his figures took a beating in the second game, which was a low-scoring encounter. Arshdeep is capable of moving the ball and in the first two matches, swing bowlers called the shots.

“I don’t expect any changes from India. The two spinners and Hardik are bowling well so they have got their combination sorted. The only debate could be around Arshdeep Singh and whether he would replace Prasidh to get that swing. That’s the only change I am expecting,” Zaheer told Cricbuzz.

However, Michael Vaughan felt that the surface at Old Trafford may not be conducive to swing. Having played there before, he felt a bowler like Prasidh who can hit the deck hard and get seam movement could make a bigger difference.

“Old Trafford isn’t generally the venue where you get a lot of swing. It is just about hitting the pitch hard and getting seam movement.”

“If you’re making changes, you’re throwing in someone who hasn’t played international cricket in a must-win game. Someone on the sidelines can take a bit of time to get into the game,” Vaughan noted.

Vaughan also pointed out possible changes for England that could make a difference in the final ODI.

“I think they will look to bring in Matt Parkinson in place of one of the seamers. Ben Stokes can then be the fourth seamer and then Moeen Ali, Livingstone and Joe Root can be used,” he added.
