IND vs ENG: India’s Playing XI For The Rescheduled 5th Test (Predicted). The BCCI announced a 17-member India Squad for the rescheduled fifth Test against England slated to be played in Birmingham from July 1. India was leading the Test series 2-1 before the fifth Test in Manchester was postponed due to Covid-19 outbreak in the Indian camp. India will be also playing a three-match T20I and ODI series after the fifth Test.

India have named a formidable squad. Cheteshwar Pujara has been included in the side given his consistent performances in the County Championship while playing for Sussex. One big absence is that of Ajinkya Rahane who was ruled out of the Test match due to a hamstring injury. He also pulled out of the remaining IPL due to the same reason. Shubman Gill was picked in place of Mayank Agarwal, while Shreyas Iyer, who made his Test debut earlier was picked in place of the injured Rahane.

Rahul is in dream batting form at the moment. He is fresh off a 600-plus season in the IPL. This is the fourth time that he has scored 600-plus in the IPL. He would like to continue his form in the Test match. Before the Birmingham Test, Rahul will also lead India in a five-match T20I series against South Africa.

The enigmatic Kohli has shown glimpses of his good form in the ongoing IPL season. With all the talks around his 71st international century, he will need to keep calm and play a good innings for India in the fifth Test.

Vihari can play the swinging ball better than Shreyas Iyer. Thus he should be picked ahead of him for that number five spot in the one-off Test. Vihari has proved his credentials for playing the long-determined innings for India several times in his short career.

Rishabh Pant

Pant’s form in the Test match will be key to deciding how well they do in the Test match. He will bat at number six and his role will be to dictate terms as per the situation of the game. Pant has already scored Test centuries in England, Australia and South African soil.

Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja would be India’s number seven. He is currently nursing an injury but will be fit in time for the one-off Test. Jadeja’s record in Test matches in the last couple of years has been fabulous with both bat and ball.

Ravichandran Ashwin

Ashwin is indispensable for India in Tets cricket at the moment. He is the second-highest wicket-taker for India in the format after Anil Kumble’s 619 wickets. He went past Harbhajan Singh and Kapil Dev in the Test series against England and Sri Lanka earlier this year at home.

Shami will be the first pacer in India’s playing XI. He bowls the ball with a beautiful seam presentation and will be a handful in England conditions. Shami has been one of the best all-format bowlers in the world for the last two years.

Bumrah will partner Shami from the other end as the two bowlers will be eyeing early wickets to give India the advantage. Bumrah did not have the best of IPL season recently, but he is looking for a stronger comeback.

One between Siraj of Umesh Yadav can be picked for the Birmingham Test in the Indian playing XI. While Siraj has proved himself to be a good Test bowler in recent times, Umesh Yadav has made a case for his selection with his recent success in the IPL.
