After sealing the T20I series against England 2-1, team India will eye for the longer white-ball format with the first ODI scheduled to kick off on Tuesday just two days after the conclusion of the T20I series.
Rohit Sharma will continue to lead the national side against a formidable England which is boosted by the return of Ben Stokes, Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root to their ODI squad.

Rohit has amassed 9283 runs in 230 ODI matches at an average of 48.6 with 44 half-centuries and 29 hundreds to his name. The Indian opener has scored 544 runs against England in 16 innings at 45.33 with two fifties and as many centuries.
Seven of Rohit’s 29 ODI centuries have come in England with five being scored during the 2019 World Cup in England and Wales. Rohit scored his first century (123*) in the country against Bangladesh in the semi-final game of the 2017 Champions Trophy. Rohit was unbeaten on 137 during the Nottingham ODI during India’s tour of England in 2018.

If Rohit manages to reach the three-figure mark in the first ODI at The Oval then he will surpass the joint record of scoring most ODI hundreds in a particular overseas country. Sachin Tendulkar (India), AB de Villiers (South Africa) and Saeed Anwar (Pakistan) are tied up with Rohit at seven centuries.
Tendulkar averaged 48.05 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium with 1778 runs in 42 matches. His seven centuries in the United Arab Emirates (UAE): 2 against Zimbabwe, 2 against Sri Lanka and one each against Australia, New Zealand and Pakistan.
Former Pakistan player Saeed Anwar also loved scoring runs in UAE just like Tendulkar. He aggregated 2179 runs in 51 games at 45.40 with 11 fifties and seven tons.
