Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag applauded Rishabh Pant‘s decision to begin the batting against England in the second T201. On Saturday, Pant unexpectedly started the batting alongside captain Rohit Sharma.

The pair put up a 49-run partnership for the first wicket. Following India’s victory against England, Sehwag stated he loved the notion of Rishabh Pant starting the batting and commended Bhuvenshwar Kumar for the “top” level bowling.

Virender Sehwag Likes The Idea Of Rishabh Pant Opening

“Fantastic effort by the Indian bowlers, Bhuvi has been top class. Like the idea of Pant opening. Congratulations Team India on the wonderful series win,” Sehwag tweeted. India trounced England by 49 runs in the second T201, giving them a commanding 2-0 series lead.

The emergence of Rishabh Pant, the current first-choice wicketkeeper-batter for India, in particular, was discussed in length earlier by former India opener Virender Sehwag.

Pant also served as the team’s captain during the five-match home T20I series against South Africa earlier this month, which finished in a 2-2 tie.

Sehwag said that there is no question that Pant will serve as India’s primary wicketkeeper in T20 internationals, but he also acknowledged that he wants Pant to try out other batting positions in the 2022 Indian Premier League.

Sachin Tendulkar Hails Indian Team For Victory Over England

Sachin Tendulkar, a legendary hitter, also hailed Team India for their convincing victory over England. “Comprehensive win by #TeamIndia to beat England convincingly in the T20 series. Well done. Keep it going,” Sachin tweeted. Before Pant entered the batting order, many anticipated that former India captain Virat Kohli would start the innings.

Kohli, who entered at position three, was unable to leave his imprint since he left after scoring just one run. The great batsman, however, was overjoyed with India’s victory and posted a photo of the team’s celebration on the Koo app with the caption “Nottingham Next.” In the third T201, India and England will square off in Nottingham on Sunday.
