India and England take on each other in the second ODI at Lord’s on July 14. The visitors are leading the series 1-0 after their thumping 10-wicket victory at the Oval. England, on the other hand, is staring down the barrel as they eye a series levelling win.
England skipper Jos Buttler after the game said that the loss was a hard one to take. Four English batters were dismissed for ducks which took the sting out of their batting effort.
“Very tough day to take, but we’ve got to dust ourselves down quickly. Little surprised by the movement, bit muggy. India exposed the conditions superbly. They have bowled really well in the powerplay. It is something we need to discuss and work out” said Buttler after the first ODI loss.
Meanwhile, the Indian team has also received a big blow ahead of the second ODI. Virat Kohli is likely to miss the second ODI as per reports. The BCCI tweeted about Kohli missing the first ODI which leaves many to believe that he is not fully fit for the second game as well.

“Virat Kohli and Arshdeep Singh were not considered for selection for the first ODI against England. Virat has a mild groin strain while Arshdeep has a right abdominal strain. The BCCI Medical Team is monitoring them,” BCCI wrote on its official Twitter handle ahead of the first ODI.
An ANI report further confirmed that is yet to recover from his groin injury and is unlikely to play the second ODI. This means Shreyas Iyer will get a chance to play in the second game as well.
