Several batters who performed well in the IPL are expected to be named in the Ireland squad for the IND vs IRE series. Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shreyas Iyer, Venkatesh Iyer amongst others have been named in the South Africa squad. All of them might be added to the Ireland squad which will be announced as well.

Samson was not included in the Indian squad for South Africa series despite batting well in the IPL. He had another fruitful series with the bat as he took Rajasthan Royals to the final of IPL 2022. The wicketkeeper-batsman has been in and out of the T20I squad for a long time now and deserves a longer runs in the side.

KL Rahul

Assuming that the senior players win the side will be rested for this series as well, Rahul has a big chance to lead India and also score the most runs in this series. He ended the IPL 2022 season with 616 runs and finished second on the log. There are reports that Rahul’s captaincy will be monitored in the South Africa series for him to be named captain in the Ireland series.

Ruturaj Gaikwad

This is the series that Gaikwad needs to use to his fullest. Previously he has played three T20Is with not many runs to show for. Two good scores in back to back games might bring the CSK opener into contention for the T20 World Cup squad. A failure in this series might well end his hopes of playing for India again.

Rishabh Pant

Pant and Samson both might be named in the Indian squad for the Ireland tour, This gives the southpaw a chance to get back into the runs after a forgetful IPL season with the bat. Pant has opened for India and can be tried at the top of the order as opined by former Indian opener Virender Sehwag.

Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya batted at number four in the bygone IPL season and has his best season with the bat. He ended up scoring 487 runs batting at number four for the majority of the season, He has thrown his name into solving India’s number four conundrum in white-ball games. If he gets his opportunity, he can end up with the most runs in the two-match series.
