India takes on South Africa in a five-match T20I series immediately after the end of IPL 2022. The series kicks off with the first T20I on June 9 in Delhi. The following four games will be held at Cuttack, Vishakhapatnam, Rajkot, and Bangalore on June 12, June 14, June 17, and June 19 respectively.

The series serves up as a dress rehearsal for the T20 World Cup later this year to be played in Australia. The players selected in this squad have a chance to perform to the best of their potential and make a case for themselves to be on that flight to Australia.

Off late Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been troubled by injury issues. The series might be the very last one if he wants to. He can focus on his ODI career and can retire from the shortest format of the game. Bhuvi can also work hard on making a comeback to the Indian Test team as well.

The veteran wicket-keeper batsman has been recalled into the side given his consistent performances in the ongoing IPL season. He has scored nearly 300 runs purely as a finisher. Karthik has spoken about his desire to play in the T20 World Cup and then retire from the game. However, he might be forced into retirement, if he does not have a good series with the bat for his side.
