Ireland hosts India or a two-match T20I series starting with the first T20I in Dubin on Sunday, June 26. The Irish side has not played any competitive cricket since the ICC T20 World Cup qualifiers last year.
The Irish Cricket Board has announced a 14-member squad with Andrew Balbirnie leading the side. Several experienced players have been rested from the side while a few uncapped players picked. A few of the players are in line for their debuts across the two games. He spoke about this series being an opportunity for several young players to run shoulders with the best from the Indian side.
“It’s a huge occasion for us. They have such a number of experienced players in T20 format. They have a squad in England for the Test match and then there’s a squad that’s coming down to Ireland to play us in T20s. They are all looking to impress” Balbirnie said TOI.
