India takes on Ireland for a two-match T20I series starting from June 26, Sunday in Malahide in Dubin. The second T20I will be played at the same venue on June 28. The two T20Is will act as a warm-up heading into the England white-ball series followed by the one-off Test in Edgbaston.
The BCCI and the Ireland Cricket Board both have announced their squads for the short series. India will be led by Hardik Pandya while the Irish side will be led by Andrew Balbarbie.
The Irish side has a few experienced players while the Indian squad has proven players from the IPL. The selectors chose Pandya as the skipper of the side to Test out his leadership skills for the future. He recently won the IPL title with Gujarat Titans in their maiden season.

India

The management is keen on giving rookie speedster Umran Malik a chance in the series. India played a T20I series against South Africa heading into this series. Head coach Rahul Dravid decided to play with the same playing XI in all the five matches. He also explained the reason behind doing so.
Several promising players have been given a chance in this series. Rahul Tripathi has earned his maiden India call-up after performing consistently well in the IPL for a few seasons now. He scored 413 runs from 14 games this season. Sanju Samson has earned a recall along with Suryakumar Yadav who is fresh from an injury recovery. Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be Hardik’s deputy in this series which also has several players retained from the South Africa series.

Ireland has called up a few uncapped players and dropped a few experienced players like Simi Singh and Shane Getkate who also missed the T20 World Cup last year.
“There aren’t many better challenges for a new national coach to have than to start your tenure against the world’s number one-ranked T20I side, India,” Andrew White, Chair of National Men’s Selectors, said.
The India series kickstarts a long home season for the Irish side with New Zealand, South Africa and Afghanistan also touring them later in the year.
