Former India opener Wasim Jaffer has picked his India National Cricket Team playing XI for the first match of the two-match T20I series against the Ireland National Cricket Team.

The first match of the two-match T20I series between Hardik Pandya-led India National Cricket Team and Andy Balbirnie-led Ireland National Cricket Team will be played at The Village, Malahide, Dublin on Sunday, June 26.

Hardik Pandya has been given the captaincy responsibility after his success as a skipper in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.

Notably, Hardik, who made his debut as a skipper in the Indian Premier League 2022, led the debutants Gujarat Titans (GT) to the IPL 2022 triumph. Also, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been named as Hardik’s deputy for the two-match T20I series.

Meanwhile, Wasim Jaffer is expecting India to make three changes to the playing XI from the team that played the fifth T20I against the South Africa National Cricket Team.

Wasim Jaffer Includes Arshdeep Singh In His India XI For 1st T20I vs Ireland

The 44-year-old Wasim Jaffer took to Twitter to name his India playing XI for the first T20I against Ireland and he picked uncapped pacer Arshdeep Singh over veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar in the team as he wanted the veteran pacer to rest after playing all the games in the South Africa series.

“My playing XI for tonight: 1. Ishan (wk) 2. Rutu 3. SKY 4. Hardik (c) 5. Hooda 6. DK 7. Axar 8. Harshal 9. Chahal 10. Avesh 11. Arshdeep (I’ll rest Bhuvi and look at Arshdeep) What’s yours? #IREvIND,” Jaffer tweeted.

Rishabh Pant, who led India in the South Africa T20I series, and Shreyas Iyer, who was part of India XI throughout the South Africa T20I series, have travelled to England for the one-off Test match.

Meanwhile, Jaffer included Suryakumar Yadav and Deepak Hooda as Pant and Iyer’s replacements in the batting department. Notably, Hooda was part of India’s squad for the South Africa T20I series but he didn’t get the opportunity to play.
