Hrishikesh Kanitkar, the interim batting coach for India, was in admiration of Suryakumar Yadav’s recent performance for the national squad in limited-overs cricket.

The 32-year-old Yadav struck his second T20I century at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui after finishing third in runs scored during the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.

Although he struggled in the first ODI at Eden Park in Auckland, Yadav was poised to steal the game from the Black Caps before bad weather intervened. The Mumbai-born batsman was a little cautious when beginning his innings because he only got nine runs off his first 13 deliveries.

He then stepped up the pace and launched an attack against right-arm off-spinner Michael Bracewell. With two fours and a six, Suryakumar continued to bat unbeaten at 34 off of 25 balls.

Suryakumar Yadav has developed those shots and stuck with them: Hrishikesh Kanitkar

Hrishikesh Kanitkar said that Yadav’s unusual strokeplay will serve as inspiration for many hitters.

“We’d want to see 10 players like Suryakumar Yadav in India.” But I don’t think you can develop someone like that because he is an outlier; what he does, very few batters can do. “He will be an inspiration to a lot of hitters all around the world to be very unique and not cling to the traditional techniques of batting,” Kanitkar told Prime Video.

“So, from what we’ve seen, Suryakumar Yadav practices and did it as a child as well.” He was rewarded for his participation in tennis-ball cricket. “He developed and persevered with those shots,” he continued.
