Legendary South African pacer Allan Donald has praised Virat Kohli and his men for the away form that they have shown ever since the 2018 tour of South Africa. Donald recalled Virat Kohli’s comments during that tour that cited how important it was for him and Team India to win away from home.

India have since beaten Australia in Australia twice, won Tests in England and reached the final of the World Test Championship. Overall, they have grown as a touring side and have been simply brilliant in their approach.

“Kohli’s comments a few years ago were that you’ll never be classed as a great side if you don’t win away from home and that has been something he really worked towards. You saw them win in Australia and also reach the WTC (World Test Championship) Final. This is a quality Indian team that is here. I’m looking forward to it,” Allan Donald told cricket.co.za.

South African batsmen will be tested by India’s bowlers: Allan Donald

Allan Donald is eagerly looking forward to the three-match Test series between South Africa and India. He believes there is enough venom in both the pace attacks and the batting from both sides will be tested.

South Africa has had some legendary players like AB de Villiers, Hashim Amla and Faf du Plessis who retired from Test cricket and their batting is a bit inexperienced. With India having a high octane bowling attack, Donald feels it will be a real challenge for the Proteas batsmen to keep them at bay.

“Both teams line up really well, both have strong bowling line-ups and that will mean the batting on both sides will be tested. Our batting has lost some key players in the last couple of seasons. There’s no hiding from the fact that it’s a young line-up and they will be tested by the Indian attack,” Allan Donald concluded.

The first of the three Tests will be played at Centurion from December 26.
