Ajinkya Rahane has been included in India’s playing XI for the first Test against South Africa at Centurion. India had a couple of other options to go with, them being the impressive Shreyas Iyer and the experienced Hanuma Vihari. However, the team management has once again shown faith in Rahane and have backed his experience for them to do the job.
Some fans also believe that this has been a huge injustice on Hanuma Vihari who was sent to South Africa to play the series against their A team in order to get acclimatized to the conditions. But when it came to selection, Vihari was once again overlooked. Others took this opportunity to troll the former Indian vice-captain. Here are some of the reactions:

Ainkya Rahane averages just 19.57 in 2021
Ajinkya Rahane has been in a woeful run of form for the entire year of 2021. In 12 Tests, Rahane averages just 19.57 and there were a lot of questions raised on his place in the line-up. However, the team management have backed him for his sensational average of 52.30 in South Africa and experience in tough batting conditions.
India were predicted to play an extra batsman, but they have gone for the tried and tested combination that got them success in England. They have gone in with three pacers, a spinner and an all-rounder in Shardul Thakur.
Mohammed Siraj was impressive in the Test series against New Zealand at home and has made his way into the team ahead of the experienced Ishant Sharma. The formidable duo of Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah round up what is a pretty potent pace attack for India. The absence of Ravindra Jadeja due to injury has finally given a chance for Ravichandran Ashwin to play an overseas Test. Ashwin has had a poor record in South Africa and will be keen to improve on it.
