IND vs SA: Can't Understand The Reason- Rajkumar Sharma On Virat Kohli Skipping Press Conference In Test Series

Indian skipper Virat Kohli is not a man to skip press conferences. However, in the ongoing Test series against South Africa, he has not attended any so far. Kohli was not available for the pre-and post-match press conferences in the first Test. While he missed the second Test due to a back spasm.
KL Rahul attended the pre-match press conference in the second Test in Centurion while Rahul Dravid attended the post-match. In Johannesburg, Dravid addressed both the pre and post-match pressers. Virat Kohli’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma kept his opinion on why Virat has not attended any pressers so far in the series on behalf of the Indian cricket team.
Difficult To Say Why This Sudden Change: Rajkumar Sharma On Virat Kohli Not Attending Pressers
“Can’t understand the reason for this. I feel the BCCI might have made some new rules on who would be addressing or the media manager might have been given more powers, that he will decide if the captain will go or not,” he said while talking to Khel Neeti.
“There must have been some reason why the captain was not seen before and after both the matches. It is difficult to say why this sudden change has been done or whether a change has actually been done or it is by chance,” Sharma further added.
When asked if the team management is trying to save Kohli from attending the press meet, he responded in the negative. He said that the management might have thought that the coach is the right person to speak to and not the captain.
“If it was about Virat Kohli, then KL Rahul would have come in the second match. But KL also didn’t come, which means some decision might have been taken that the coach will talk instead of the captain. Even if the coach comes, I don’t think there is anything wrong in that. The media manager cannot take such a huge decision on his own. It is definitely surprising as it is a new thing because the captain used to come earlier but is not coming now,” Sharma concluded saying.
Virat Kohli made a few big revelations of the events that led to his sacking as ODI captain in the team’s pre-departure press conference to South Africa. Meanwhile, the Test series is drawn at 1-1 after South Africa’s win at Johannesburg. The third Test match in Cape Town starts from January 11.
