IND vs SA: Give Rest To Jasprit Bumrah And Bhuvneshwar Kumar – Mohammad Azharuddin Suggests 2 Changes For India Ahead Of The 3rd ODI

Former India captain Mohammad Azharuddin has suggested the KL Rahul-led India National Cricket Team to make two changes in the playing XI in the third and final ODI of the series against Temba Bavuma-led South Africa National Cricket Team.

Temba Bavuma-led South Africa won the first ODI by 31 runs and the second ODI by 7 wickets against India to get an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series and the dead rubber third ODI will be played in Cape Town on Sunday.

In his Twitter Q&A session, Azharuddin was about the changes he would like to see in India’s playing XI in the third One Day International to which he replied by saying that India should give rest to experienced pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar and include Navdeep Saini and Mohammed Siraj in the playing XI. Mohammad Azharuddin stated:

“Play Navdeep Saini and Siraj. And give rest to Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar”

He was also asked if Umesh Yadav, deserved a chance in the final ODI to which Azharuddin responded:

“They should play two new players, Navdeep Saini and Siraj. Umesh Yadav maybe not in this series.”

Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara’s position in India’s Test team have come under intense scrutiny after their inconsistent performances with the bat for an extended period of time.

Ajinkya Rahane in 2021 scored just 479 runs in 23 innings at an extremely poor average of 20.82 including just 2 50+ scores. Rahane, who was recently removed from the Test vice-captaincy, scored just 136 runs in the three-match Test series against South Africa at an average of 22.66.

Meanwhile, India’s No.3 in Tests Cheteshwar Pujara scored 124 runs in the three-match Test series against South Africa at an average of 20.66. Overall in 2021, he scored 702 runs in 26 innings at an average of 28.08 including 6 50+ scores.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Azharuddin was asked on Twitter “What will be advice to overcome the current situation of our cricket team? Especially to guys like Rahane and Pujara?” to which he responded:

“They are going through tough times. According to me, Pujara has some technical issues. Hope he will sort it out soon. They are very talented and experienced players.”
