IND vs SA: I Saw This In The IPL As Well That Virat Kohli Is A Bit Low On Confidence – Sanjay Manjrekar

Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar feels that the Indian red-ball captain Virat Kohli is a bit low on confidence and mentioned that he saw this in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as well.
Virat Kohli is going through a lean patch and he hasn’t been able to replicate his old heroics in the recent games he has played. Several cricket experts have criticised Kohli for not converting good starts into good scores and eventually getting out by playing a terrible shot.

Speaking on ESPNcricinfo Manjrekar labelled Kohli as a “great batter” however he opined that the self-confidence of the Indian red-ball captain has “ dipped a bit”.
“Virat Kohli is a great batter. He’s certainly out of form. It’s the first time I have seen – I saw this in the IPL as well – that he’s a bit low on confidence which I thought would never happen. That’s why they say ‘never say never’. We have seen that because he hasn’t scored runs, his self-confidence has dipped a bit,” Manjrekar said on ESPN Cricinfo.

Kohli got ruled out of the second Test against South Africa at the Wanderers, Johannesburg due to upper back spasm and KL Rahul was appointed as skipper. India lost the Johannesburg Test by 7 wickets and the series is levelled at 1-1.
Meanwhile, Kohli has confirmed that he will be returning and leading the team in the third Test which will be played from January 11-15, at the Newlands, Cape Town.
Manjrekar is confident that Kohli will soon return back in form and score runs consistently for India and he also said that it’s possible that he will score good runs in the Cape Town Test against South Africa.
“But he’s a great batter and when he’ll score runs, he’ll be back in form because he’ll keep scoring consistently. It’s completely possible that he’ll be back in form in this Test,” said.
