Former South African cricketer and skipper Graeme Smith praised the Dean Elgar-led side for defeating India in the 2nd Test in Johannesburg. He also termed the victory as one of South Africa’s greatest Test wins. South Africa defeated India by 7 wickets in IND vs SA 2nd Test encounter at The Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.

South Africa also scripted history by chasing their highest-ever total at The Wanderers. Leading from the front, skipper Dean Elgar slammed a gritty unbeaten 96 off 188 deliveries to grab victory for his team by 7 wickets while chasing 240. It was the first time that South Africa defeated India at the Wanderers stadium in Tests, facing 2 defeats and 3 draws earlier.

One Of SA Crickets Greatest Test Wins! Graeme Smith Lauds South Africa Team

After South Africa won the Test, Graeme Smith took to Twitter to praise the home side, who showed a brilliant piece of batting and bowling in the match to outclass Indian team. In his tweet, Graeme Smith termed the victory as one of the greatest for South Africa cricket.

In the final innings, South Africa was chasing a target of 240 runs. Dean Elgar showcased impressive patience and experience while batting. Starting as an opener, the left-handed batsman slammed unbeaten 96 runs to grab victory for his team in the end. With just 3 wickets down, South Africa won the match to level the Test series 1-1.

Earlier, India posted 202-10 in the 1st innings with a half-century by KL Rahul. South Africa slammed 229-10 in response, earning a 27-run lead. Later, India started well with middle-order batsmen Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara hitting half-centuries. However, after losing a few quick wickets in the middle, India was bowled out for 266 in 2nd innings and finalized a target of 240 for the hosts.
