Legendary Indian batsman Sunil Gavaskar talking about the upcoming India tour of South Africa said that the SJN report indicting former Proteas cricketers, Graeme Smith, Mark Boucher and AB de Villiers is “certainly not going to help the home team.”

The India National Cricket Team have never won a Test series in South Africa. However, looking at the dominant performance of the team in the Australia and England tour many believe that this is the best chance for India to win the first-ever Test series in South Africa.

Meanwhile, Gavaskar in his column for Sportstar wrote: “Coming to India’s tour of South Africa, the turmoil with the release of the SJN report indicting three former South African greats is certainly not going to help the home team.”

Batting legend Sunil Gavaskar feels that the South African Batting unit looks fragile and this is India’s best chance to win the series.

He also pinpointed that the opening batsman Quinton de Kock who loves playing against Indian bowlers is expected to miss a couple of Tests. Notably, De Kock’s wife Sasha is expected to give birth to the couple’s first child and he might want to spend time with his family.

“There is also talk about Quinton de Kock, who loves Indian bowling, not being available to play the second and third Test. That weakens a fragile batting line-up even more and presents India with its best-ever chance of winning a Test series there,” Gavaskar elaborated.

Gavaskar further added that the India winning Test series in South Africa will complete the circle of winning a Test series in all major Test-playing countries.

If they do that it will truly be the crowning glory and complete the circle of India winning a Test series in every Test-playing country. South Africa is the last hurdle and once that’s done then the sky is the limit for Indian cricket,” he asserted.
