Losing the toss and batting first, South Africa were off to a poor start as star performers Janneman Malan and Temba Bavuma got out in the powerplay. However, Quinton de Kock, who scored a century, and Rassie van der Dussen had an amazing 144 runs partnership that helped the Proteas team post 287 runs on the board.

Got a bit crazy at the end – Temba Bavuma
During the post-match presentation, Proteas captain Temba Bavuma said that he is very satisfied after winning the series against India by 3-0 and the team’s mission has been accomplished. He asserted:
“Got a bit crazy at the end. Probably the complacency got to us. Guys tried a couple of things that didn’t come off. Very satisfying, mission accomplished for us. Many people didn’t give us much of a chance. Hope through our performances, we’ve been able to get a couple of supporters. Making good strides as a team. Challenge is to get better and better.”
Temba Bavuma showered praise on batters Quinton de Kock and Rassie van der Dussen for their consistent performance. He also feels that the bowling of the South African side has been decent.
“Quinton’s been great. Rassie as well with the bat. He’s been tremendous. His game starting to move to the next level. Bowling’s been decent.”
South Africa captain also said that winning the series against India was a big challenge for the Proteas team. He said:
“This was a big challenge, a big obstacle in our journey. To come out the way we did – winning Tests, winning ODIs convincingly will do a world of good.”
Temba Bavuma further added that the Proteas side have been challenged physically in the series and the Indian bowlers have asked them some tough questions. He signed off by saying that he has been enjoying his batting and things are going okay for the team at the moment.
“ What pleased me most – if you look at the Test series, feel like it’s the hardest series I’ve been part of. Indian bowlers asking questions regularly. Even in the field the intensity. Physically we’ve been challenged – it’s been very hot the last couple of weeks. These conditions weren’t exactly South African like – more like the subcontinent. Always nice to contribute to the team. Enjoying my batting at the moment. Things are okay at the moment.
