South Africa have been ruthless in the ongoing ODI series against India. Despite playing the series without the services of Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje, South Africa have been brilliant with the ball.
They have managed to restrict India to below-par scores and win both games comprehensively. Ahead of the third and final ODI, South Africa would look to register a series whitewash. Here’s a look at our predicted Playing XI of South Africa for the third ODI.
SA vs IND: South Africa’s Predicted Playing XI Against India– South Africa vs India 2022, 3rd ODI
Openers: Janneman Malan and Quinton de Kock
South Africa’s opening pair of Janneman Malan and Quinton de Kock set the tone for the run-chase in the second ODI as the duo put on a 132-run partnership for the opening wicket. Malan missed out on a hundred by just 9 runs, amassing 91 runs in just 108 balls, while Quinton de Kock managed to score 78 runs in 66 balls. They should open the batting for South Africa in the third ODI.
Middle-Order: Temba Bavuma, Aiden Markram and Rassie van der Dussen and David Miller
Temba Bavuma played a match-winning knock in the first game and contributed 35 off 36 balls in the next, while Aiden Markam also played an unbeaten 37-run knock off 41 balls. All the batsmen in South Africa’s middle-order is in fine form and this should give them the edge over India going into the final ODI of the series.
All-rounders: Andile Phehlukwayo, Keshav Maharaj
Andile Phehlukwayo has done a decent job with the ball in the series. He has given away runs at less than 6 runs an over and also picked three valuable wickets. Keshav Maharaj has also done a brilliant job in the middle-order. He has consistently bowled at great areas and denied India of scoring freely in the middle-overs.
Bowlers: Lungi Ngidi, Sisanda Magala, and Tabraiz Shamsi
Lungi Ngidi didn’t get any wickets in the last game but did manage to build pressure by bowling with great discipline. Expect him to continue leading the pace attack.
South Africa might bring in Marco Jansen in the playing XI, however, they are likely to persist with Magala as they have already sealed the series. Tabraiz Shamsi has played a brilliant role in the series. He has been responsible for breaking India’s momentum by picking important wickets. He returned with figures of 2 for 52 in 10 overs in the last game.
