Indian Test captain Virat Kohli has missed out on the second Test of the two-match Test series against South Africa National Cricket Team at the Wanderers, Johannesburg due to an upper back spasm.

Middle-order batsman Hanuma Vihari who has been waiting for a very long time to get an opportunity in the playing XI has replaced the Indian Test skipper in the team. Meanwhile, newly-appointed Test vice-captain KL Rahul is leading the team in the Johannesburg Test against South Africa.

Virat Kohli-led India beached the Centurion fortress by defeating Dean Elgar-led South Africa by 113 runs to get the lead of 1-0 in the three-match Test series. If India wins the second Test under the leadership of KL Rahul, this will be India’s maiden Test series victory on South African soil.

Meanwhile, KL Rahul has won the toss and elected to bat first in the 2nd Test. After the toss, he revealed that Kohli has a back spasm and was hoping that the red-ball skipper will recover before the third and last Test match of the series. He said:

Unfortunately Virat has had an upper back spasm, the physios are working on him and hopefully he’ll recover for the next Test. It is every Indian player’s dream to captain his country. Really honoured and looking forward to this challenge. We have had a few good wins here and hopefully, we’ll look to continue that. Hanuma Vihari comes in place of Virat. Just the one change. It was a good Test at Centurion overall. We really performed well as a team and are really excited about this match.”
