IND vs SA: Watch – Lungi Ngidi Sends Back Ajinkya Rahane Packing For 48

Former India Test vice-captain and senior middle-order batsman Ajinkya Rahane failed to reach the fifty-run mark in the first Test match of the three-match Test series against Dean Elgar-led South Africa National Cricket Team at the SuperSport Park, Centurion.

Ajinkya Rahane who was included in the playing XI ahead of Hanuma Vihari and Shreyas Iyer played good innings on Day 1 of the Test match and he looked confident and added 73* runs for the 4th wicket and at the end of day 1.

Meanwhile, Rahane missed out on his half-century by just 2 runs as he was dismissed by Lungi Ngidi at the score of 48 in the 97th over of the innings on Day 3.

Ngidi bowled a short length delivery outside off stump, and Rahane attempted a flashy cut short but the ball had an extra bounce and Ajinkya Rahane outside edged it behind to the wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock.

India Off To A Poor Start On Day 3 vs South Africa

Day 2 of the first Test was called off due to continuous rain at the venue and it was told that 98 overs will be played on Day 3 of the Test match.

The start on Day 3 was not a good one for the Indian team as set batsman KL Rahul was dismissed by pacer Kagiso Rabada in the 94th over and his innings ended at 123 runs off 260 balls including 17 fours and 1 six.

Then, Ajinkya Rahane, Ravichandran Ashwin and wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant also got out early. Also, Lungi Ngidi completed his 5-wicket haul after dismissing Rishabh Pant. At the time of writing, Shardul Thakur is batting alongside Mohammed Shami and India are at 300/7.
