Former Indian pacer Venkatesh Prasad was impressed with the death bowling skills of India’s latest pace sensation, Arshdeep Singh, following Indias’s win in the 4th T20I against West Indies.

Arshdeep got his opportunity to play after Harshal Patel couldn’t regain match fitness and he has already stamped his class in the shortest format. He has quickly become Rohit Sharma‘s go-to bowler in the death.

Arshdeep Singh at 23 in the death overs is as good as anyone in world cricket. Early says in his career but seems to have a very steady head on his shoulders besides great skills. Man to watch out for #IndvWI,” Prasad tweeted.

Arshdeep has tremendous consistency in landing yorkers and it has been on full display during the ongoing T20I series against the Windies. In 5 matches so far, he has taken 9 wickets at an economy of 6.05.

“Arshdeep Singh will be an ideal foil when you look at the Indian attack” – Ravi Shastri

Shastri felt that the Indian pace attack could use someone of Arshdeep’s variety, who is the only left-arm pacer anywhere close to the T20I squad. It will also help in Australia, where statistics suggest left-arm bowlers do well.

I think very close [on Arshdeep getting regular chances] to because India need variety. And in Australia, left-armers normally do a good job. There is bounce and the angle that he creates. He will be an ideal foil when you look at the Indian attack.

It should have Bhuvi, Jasprit, Shami and then if you put him in the mix and all you might know that he might play in one of the games given the opportunity,” Shastri told.
