IND vs WI: Shreyas Iyer Had A Great Opportunity To Score Some Runs - Parthiv Patel
Former Indian cricketer Parthiv Patel felt that Indian batter, Shreyas Iyer, missed out on the chance to cement his place in the side during the third T20I against West Indies on Tuesday.
Iyer played a 27-ball 24 in the company of Suryakumar Yadav, who stole the limelight during the run chase. Although there was no pressure, Iyer struggled to get going and was eventually dismissed by Akeal Hosein.
“It was a great opportunity for him (Iyer) to score some runs and get back into form. He is a much better player than the position he comes into while playing short balls.”
“You don’t have to leave your stumps and play the kind of shots he did. So he should back himself to play along the ground. He had a great chance today to slip under the radar, score a run-a-ball and remain not out,” Parthiv told Cricbuzz.
“I would bring back Jadeja” – Parthiv Patel
Parthiv believes that Ravindra Jadeja must make a comeback to the team in place of Iyer with Deepak Hooda being promoted to No. 3. Jadeja was rested for the match after playing in the first two matches.
“I would bring back Jadeja if he was just resting in place of Shreyas Iyer and would bat Deepak Hooda at No.3. If Harshal Patel is fit enough, then I will bring him back in place of Avesh Khan (for fourth T20I),” he added.
Avesh had another forgettable outing with the ball as he conceded 47 runs in 3 overs but the rest of the bowling attack made up for it and restricted the Windies lineup to 164. India managed to chase it down with 7 wickets in hand and an over to spare.
