Although Kohli will be rested for the West Indies T20Is he remains an integral part of Team India’s T20I setup and he is in India’s scheme of things for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, which will be held in October-November in Australia. Notably, premier pacer Bumrah has been given an extended break by the BCCI because he has been playing non-stop cricket.

Also, left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav is all set to make his comeback to the national set-up for the five-match T20I series against the West Indies.

Kuldeep, who was in brilliant form in the Indian Premier League 2022, was also part of India’s squad for the home T20I series against South Africa. However, he missed the entire series after suffering a blow on his right hand while batting in the nets.

The left-arm wrist spinner has now completely recovered from the injury and has completed rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.

Former India National Cricket Team captain Virat Kohli, who has been going through a lean patch for an extended period of time, suffered a groin injury ahead of the first ODI against England and got ruled out of the first game at the Kennington Oval, London.

The BCCI selection committee wants to be cautious with Kohli’s groin injury, as a result, Kohli will most likely not be part of India’s playing XI in the second game at the Lord’s Cricket Ground, London, as per a report in The Indian Express.

“The selectors wish to be careful about the injury lest it flares up into something more serious”, the report stated.

Talking further about West Indies T20Is, India captain Rohit Sharma is likely to participate in the T20I series and his opening partner KL Rahul, who suffered a groin injury ahead of the South Africa T20Is, is expected to return to the squad.

Also, Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik, Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravindra Jadeja are all expected to feature in West Indies T20Is.

Meanwhile, the ODI series between India and West Indies will take place from July 22 to 27 and the T20I series will take place from July 29 to August 7.
