Reetinder Singh Sodhi, a former cricketer for India, thinks that Kuldeep Yadav failed to make use of his opportunities during the just finished three-match ODI series in Zimbabwe.
He claimed, in an interview with India News Sports, that the wrist spinner required to put up exceptional performances, something he was unable to achieve. He thinks the left-arm needs to pitch with more consistency if he wants to keep his spot on the squad.
Kuldeep Yadav may not be able to earn a spot in the Men in the Blue team for the forthcoming T20 World Cup 2022, the 41-year-old also said. To quote Reetinder Singh Sodhi:
“To capture the hearts of the selectors, Kuldeep Yadav needed to perform well on this tour.” He bowled effectively in this match, but he has to improve his consistency. He will be disappointed because he could have done better.”
” It remains to be seen whether he is called up for the T20 World Cup, although his chances appear to be slim at the present.”
‘Ishan Kishan hasn’t got consistent opportunities to play’: Reetinder Singh Sodhi
Ishan Kishan’s resurgence was also discussed by Reetinder Singh Sodhi after the left-hander scored 50 runs off only 61 balls on Monday. He underlined that the southpaw took a more patient approach and did not play his natural game.
As the former all-rounder, batters frequently act in this way after having a poor recent run of performance. According to Sodhi, the swashbuckler would have grown very confident after accumulating some runs. Reetinder Sodhi added in detail:
“Ishan Kishan does not frequently have the chance to play. Because there were not any runs behind his back, he did not play his normal game today. But after this fifty, his confidence would have risen. For India, his return to form is a plus.”
The team led by KL Rahul won the series 3-0 over the hosts. Shubman Gill was named Player of the Series for his batting ability.
