IND vs ZIM: "Was Trying To Emulate Yuvraj Singh; He's Obviously A Legend" - Ryan Burl On 34-run Over Against Bangladesh
Zimbabwe’s hot new batting prospect, Ryan Burl, said that he was trying to emulate Yuvraj Singh’s famous 36-run over off Stuart Broad in India’s T20 World Cup 2007 match, during his team’s match against Bangladesh.
Burl smashed five sixes and a four off the 15th over of the third and final T20I off Nasum Ahmed’s bowling. The over provided a much-needed impetus for Zimbabwe, who later went on to win the match by defending the total.
While he was taking the spinner apart, Burl said that his intention was to smash six sixes, like Yuvraj had done to a young Broad back in 2007. Unfortunately for Burl, the fifth ball ended up falling just short of the boundary.
“When I tried to hit the left-arm spinner for 36 in an over, a little bit of flash came when Yuvraj hit Broad for six sixes. I was kind of trying to emulate in that way; he’s obviously a legend,” Burl was quoted as saying in Zee News.
“It’s going to be difficult” – Ryan Burl on Zimbabwe’s chances of causing an upset
Ahead of the 3-match ODI series against India, Zimbabwe is high on confidence. They are coming into the series on the back of stunning white-ball series wins against Bangladesh.
“We would like to try and win the series. But it’s India and one of the best teams in the world. They are not going to put up an easy fight; it’s going to be difficult. Hopefully, with our home ground advantage, we can try and pull out a cat out of the hat and put out something special,” Burl said.
