Before the start of the Indian T20 League 2022, Punjab Kings was considered one of the favourites to win the championship. However, the franchise once more failed to live up to expectations and missed the playoffs. At the end of the season stage, Mayank Agarwal and company were ranked sixth on the table.

Punjab won 7 of 14 matches and could have made the playoffs if they had won one more. They would be disheartened, but eager to bounce back stronger the following year.

Some Punjab players, like those from the other teams, disappointed the fans with their performances. The Kings might very well make some lineup changes for the upcoming season. PBKS may release the following five names:

1. Sandeep Sharma:

Kagiso Rabada was a fantastic overseas fast bowler for Punjab. He ended up being their truly outstanding bowler. The franchise would like to improve its pace unit by bringing in some excellent Indian pace bowlers.

They put their faith in Sandeep Sharma’s potential for the 2021 edition, but he fell short of the team’s requirements. He has begun to look like a shell of his former self, and the franchise may not keep him for the upcoming season. The 29-year-old fast bowler took 5 wickets at 76.50 in 5 games.

2. Harpreet Brar:

In the auction for the 2022 Indian Premier League, he was purchased by the Punjab Kings in February 2022. Harpreet Brar wowed everybody with his left-arm spin in the Indian T20 League 2021. However, he was unable to leave an impression with the ball in the 2022 edition. He returned with three wickets in Punjab’s last game after taking only two in the first four matches. He took 5 wickets in 2 games at an average of 36.50.

3. Benny Howell:

Notably, Benny Howell has been the only foreign player in the squad who did not appear in any of the Indian T20 League 2022 games. Odean Smith, Rabada, and Nathan Ellis all were given chances to show their worth. Maybe the franchise didn’t have quite enough faith in Benny Howell, and he may not be retained for next season.

4. Prabhsimran Singh:

He was repurchased by Kings XI Punjab in the 2020 IPL auction ahead of the 2020 Indian Premier League. In 2022, he played only one game for the Punjab Kings against SRH, scoring 14 runs at a strike rate of 127.

5. Nathan Ellis:

Nathan Ellis is a cricketer from Australia. He was acquired by the Punjab Kings in the auction for the 2022 Indian Premier League tournament in February 2022. Nathan managed to play only one game for the Punjab Kings in the IPL 2022, against Delhi and bowled on Golden Duck. He was then dropped for the rest of the season. Maybe the franchise didn’t have quite enough faith in Nathan Ellis, and he may not be retained for next season.
