All West Indies Players Set To Participate In The IPL 2022, Confirms CWI

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 is expected to take place between March-end and May-end and the Cricket West Indies (CWI) has confirmed that all the Windies players will be available for participation in the marquee T20 league.

In the two-day mega auction which took place in Bengaluru, 14 West Indies players were picked by the IPL franchises and three players were retained ahead of the auction including Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine and Andre Russell. Also, the combined value of the West Indies players in the upcoming season of the tournament is over INR 81 crore.

Meanwhile, Cricket West Indies has said that they have allocated a separate window for the Indian Premier League each year in their FTP.

“The CWI has allocated a window for the tournament each year in their ICC FTP and also guaranteed this to the players in their retainer contracts, therefore West Indies players are fully available to participate in the IPL each year. The IPL 2022 is slated to be played in April and May,” the board said in a statement on Monday (February 14).

CWI president Ricky Skerritt congratulated all the West Indies players who have secured contracts for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 and said that the Indian Premier League is the most lucrative T20 tournament in the world.

“I want to congratulate all of the West Indies players who have secured contracts to the various franchises in the IPL, which is the biggest and most lucrative global T20 franchise tournament.”

He further lauded the Windies youngsters who were bought by the Indian Premier League franchises for the first time.

“But I especially want to applaud those younger players who received their first full IPL contracts. This shows great faith in emerging West Indies talent.

“I continue to believe that our players can seek quality employment abroad, and still be positioned to operate constructively and successfully within the West Indies cricket system,” the CWI boss said
