BCCI To Stage IPL 2022 Across Six Venues In Maharashtra And Gujarat - Reports

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering holding the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League across six venues in India.

Mumbai, Pune and Ahmedabad are the three cities shortlisted by the Indian board to stage nearly 70 IPL matches for IPL 2022. Five venues in Maharashtra, four of them are in the capital city Mumbai itself, are part of the planning.

IPL 2022 playoffs to be played in Ahmedabad – Reports

According to a report by Sportstar, the fixtures of the IPL 2022 playoffs will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahemadabad.

The BCCI has shortlisted Wankhede Stadium (homeground of Mumbai Indians), Brabourne Stadium, Dr. D.Y. Patil Sports Stadium and the Maharashtra Cricket Association stadium in Pune were part of the earlier proposal. The Indian board has also added Jio Stadium in Navi Mumbai as the fifth venue in the Maharashtra state.

The Jio Stadium, developed in the Reliance Coroparare Park, has been the training facility of five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians.

IPL 2022 full schedule is expected to be announced by end of February

The report also mentioned that the BCCI is likely to announce the full schedule of IPL 2022 by the end of this month. It is expected the IPL 2022 will be held between March 27- May 28.

After discussions with the franchise officials, the board decided to avoid travelling by flight to stay away from the COVID-19 scare.

The BCCI completed IPL 2022 auction last week with the event being held for two days at the ITC Gardenia Hotel in Bengaluru.

A total of 204 players were sold in the span of two days aggregating a sum of 551.7 crores as 10 teams were left with content to build formidable sides.

Ishan Kishan made a resounding comeback with the five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians after the franchise snapped him up for a colossal amount of INR 15.25 crore.
