Bhuvneshwar Kumar was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad during IPL 2022 auction. The team paid a price of Rs. 4.20 crores to grab the player in their squad. Kumar kept a base price of Rs. 2 crores ahead of the auction. He was released by Sunrisers Hyderabad earlier.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar is among the top pacers for India. He is a regular member of the national team in ODIs and T20Is. However, does not get an entry into the Test side nowadays. In 132 IPL matches so far, the right-arm pacer accounts for 142 wickets at an average of 25.26.
Bhuvi was part of Royal Challengers Bangalore from IPL 2009 to 2010. However, he did not play any match during the two seasons. Later in IPL 2011 auction, Pune Warriors India picked Bhuvneshwar Kumar in their squad.
In his debut season in IPL 2011, Kumar played just 4 games and picked 3 wickets. In the next season, he picked 8 wickets in 11 games. In IPL 2014, Sunrisers Hyderabad picked Bhuvi in their squad. Bhuvi rose to fame in IPL in the 2016 and 2017 editions, winning the purple cap in both seasons as he finished as the top wicket-taker.
Sunrisers Hyderabad continued to retain Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the subsequent seasons. In IPL 2021, Bhuvi had an average show with just 6 wickets in 11 games. His inability to pick wickets was quite visible. Ahead of IPL 2022 auction, Sunrisers Hyderabad released him from the squad.
