IPL 2022: Cannot Wait To Get Into Camp - Kagiso Rabada Excited To Join His New Franchise, Punjab Kings
South African pacer Kagiso Rabada was bought by Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the IPL 2022 mega auction for INR 9.25 crores on Saturday. Rabada played for Delhi Capitals (DC) but the franchise didn’t retain him in their squad.
Initially, there were no bids for Rabada as the franchises wanted to play it cool. DC began the bid in order to bring him back but the Gujarat Titans joined the bidding war.
Things escalated quite quickly as the price went up from INR 2 cr to 7.5 crores in no time. Delhi and Gujarat kept going head-to-head before the former gave up at INR 8 cr. The Titans were looking happy but Ness Wadia-led PBKS swooped in at the last minute and signed up the 26-year-old pacer.
“I’m really excited to be joining the Punjab Kings. I cannot wait to get into camp. Thank you for showing the faith in me and see you soon,” Rabada said in a video posted by PBKS.

Alongside Anrich Nortje, Rabada was crucial in Delhi’s campaign in the last two seasons. DC reached the finals in the IPL 2021 season but lost to champions, CSK. Nevertheless, Rabada will be keen on delivering for his new franchise.
