Maheesh Theekshana has been brilliant for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2022. In what has been a sub-standard season for CSK, Theekshana has been a shining light for them.
He has picked up wickets in the powerplay as well as at the death. On Sunday too, he once again gave CSK an important breakthrough as he trapped in-form David Warner after being hit for a boundary on the first ball.
Delhi Capitals On The Back-Foot In Their Chase Of 209
Earlier in the day, Chennai Super Kings made 208 runs in their first innings. It was on the back of the third consecutive fifty by Devon Conway since his comeback to the team. He and Ruturaj Gaikwad gave CSK a great start once again as they piled on the runs.
Conway made 87 runs and did the bulk of the scoring, cameos by Shivam Dube and MS Dhoni gave CSK a fantastic finish as they ended their innings on 208 runs.
DC’s chase did not have a great start as they lost KS Bharat in the 2nd over itself. Warner though was looking in monstrous touch. He hit Theekshana for a four on his first delivery, but then he tried to reverse sweep him on the next ball. The ball wasn’t full enough, it was delivered a lot flatter, Warner attempted a reverse pull but till then the ball had already hit his back thigh.
He was given out on the field, but he challenged the decision. The hawk-eye showed that the ball would have kissed the leg-stump, it was the umpire’s call and Warner had to go back. Warner was livid after getting out as he kept nodding his head while walking back to the pavilion.
DC after Warner’s wicket was in trouble at 36-2 but Rishabh Pant ensured that the scoring rate doesn’t come down as he hit three fours in the same over against Theekshana.
