Dwayne Bravo was rebought by Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2022 mega auction. He forms a part of the core group of CSK with MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Moeen Ali. CSK kick off their IPL 2022 campaign by facing Kolkata Knight Riders in the first game of the season.
Ahead of CSK’s campaign opener, Dwayne Bravo in an exclusive interview with TOI spoke about various aspects of CSK, his association with the franchisee and whether they can defend the title. Bravo started his interaction by speaking about how long will he continue playing. On being asked about it, the former West Indies all-rounder said that he will keep playing the game as long as he feels fit and enjoy the game.
As Long As I Am Fit And Enjoying It I Will Play: Dwayne Bravo
” I dont know. I will allow my body to dictate it. As long as I am fit and enjoying it I will play for as long as possible. If I think the hunger is gone and I am not able to do the things or enjoy myself, I will walk away but there is no time frame as such” said Bravo.
The CSK all-rounder spoke on the possibility of his side being able to defend the title. They won the title for the tird time when they came back into the IPL in 2018. They almost won it in 2019. After a forgetful year in 2020, MS Dhoni yet again led his team to their fourth title in 2021. Bravo said that defending the title is harder than winning it.
“Well, we always try to put everything in a match. Whenever we win the trophy, we try to defend it. The IPL is the toughest T20 tournament in the world, and it’s always a challenge to defend our title. It’s easier to win it but harder to defend it. I think we have the right squad. We have a good balance again. We have good experienced and young players in the mix. So, we’ll do everything to defend the title. But Like I said it’s always a harder thing to do is defending” concluded Bravo.
A total of 74 matches will be played across four venues in Maharashtra namely, Wankhede Stadium, Dy Patil Stadium, Brabourne Stadium and Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium. Wankhede and DY Patil Stadium will host 20 matches each while the Brabourne stadium in Mumbai and MCA Stadium in Pune will play hosts to 15 games each.
