The league stage of the IPL 2022 is being held across four venues in Maharashtra- the Wankhede Stadium, the DY Patil Stadium, the Brabourne Stadium, and the MCA Stadium in Pune. Therefore, many other franchises had shown concern for Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians having an unfair advantage.
This was due to MI playing four matches at their home ground of Wankhede Stadium while none of the other franchises are getting to play a single match at their own home grounds in the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League.
Rohit Sharma meanwhile, before the IPL 2022 began, had said that it is an even playing field for all franchises, given that even MI has only a handful of players who have previously played at the Wankhede stadium or the Brabourne stadium in the past in the tournament.
He had said: “We have no home advantage (Mumbai Indians) as we didn’t play any game in Mumbai in the last two years. Last year, many teams played Matches in Mumbai. So no advantage for us. It’s a new team. And I don’t believe in added advantage, and 70-80 percent of the squad hasn’t played in Mumbai before.”
Aap Apne City Mein 3-4 Ground Banao- Rohit Sharma’s Stinging Comment On Other Franchises’ Complaint About Mumbai Indians Playing At Home Ground
Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Rohit Sharma was attending a fan interaction virtually when he was asked about other franchises complaining to the Indian Premier League governing council and BCCI that MI will have an unfair advantage playing four matches at their home ground of Wankhede Stadium.
Therefore, other teams suggested that since they are not being allowed to play at their home grounds, hence MI should also not be allowed to play a single match at Wankhede stadium.
Therefore Rohit Sharma had a savage reply, saying,” Many franchises have said that MI should not be allowed to play in Mumbai. So my opinion on that is that those franchises who are objecting, should construct 3-4 grounds each in their cities.”
